Key learning outcomes
|
The study of musicology aims both to encompass music prerequisites for musicological work and master a basic overview from the broad field of musicology. In the first year, the candidate will acquire broad insight in disciplines from music theory (harmony, music analysis, and intonation), the history of European music and musicology. In the following years the modules are more specific in order to provide a good ground for both further master's studies and work in the cultural spheres (museums, archives, music journals, broadcast, television, etc.). Education is focused on theoretical subjects such as music psychology and sociology, aesthetics, organology and history of score writing. The practical side represents music management, criticism and popularisation of music. The study of a second language is stressed throughout the degree to enable students to develop their linguistic abilities in relation to their musicological focus.
