Learning outcomes |
This module surveys Irish music as a national and international phenomenon. Lectures will trace its emergence and development in the context of significant events in Irish history, also consider prominent individuals and groups who have contributed to the state of Irish music today.
From a range of printed and aural sources, students will be equipped with an understanding of the attributes and conditions which inform Irish music. |
Prerequisites |
Students should be familiar in a general way with the qualities and circumstances of Czech traditional/folk music; this knowledge will provide a useful perspective and enhance their ability for a comparative evaluation of the material.
