Course content |
The State Final Exams, its detailed topics are available at the Department of Musicology?s website. Individual home preparation is expected. Passing the State Final Exam is a necessary condition for graduation. The State Final Exam has the form of an oral exam in theory and history of music and is realized as a discussion based on the drawn questions. The discussion?s topics should not be directly related to the topic of the diploma thesis.

Learning outcomes |
Student has knowledge of music theory and is able to apply his education in practise. Passing the State Final Exam is a necessary condition for graduation and is a part of the final exams for obtaining university education in Musicology program (bachelor degree). |

Successful completion of a respective study block and gaining all required partial attestations.

Assessment methods and criteria |
Oral exam
The State Final Exam, its detailed topics are available at the Department of Musicology?s website. Individual home preparation is expected. Ad Theory of Music: Sufficient knowledge of the basic theoretical disciplines is required, i.e. harmony, counterpoint, musical forms, fundamentals of instrumentation and reading of scores, and their application during an analysis of specific musical forms. The exam has a form of a verbal analysis of a drawn pair of examples of notes where the student should demonstrate his ability to orientate within the structure (macrostructure in general and microstructure in detail) of the analysed works or parts, and characteristics of their ?musical language?, or more precisely the style. The selection of the musical compositions may be updated every year. |
