Course content
1. Content, protection and management of AP generally. 2. Terminological definition of a musical work (compared musicological approaches by the copyright). 3. Legal and structural limits musically AP. 4. Move of the musical paradigm in the 20th century and their influence on the AP. 5. Technical aspects of musical works of the 20th century and their impact on the AP. 6. General and the legal definition of plagiarism, historical guide, assessment of plagiarism. 7. Analysis of selected cases solved (melodic component, meaning other components of musical structure in conjunction with the melody). 8. Analysis of selected cases (problems auditory association). 9. Phenomenon sampling. 10. The case of musical plagiarism in the Czech Republic. 11. Collective management of AP. 12. The Institute of sound trademark.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to provide a basic overview of intellectual property law, with particular regard to Czech copyright legislation (the Copyright Act, the rights of performers and other related legal regulations), the so-called institutes of collective management (OSA Intergram, and others) and the so-called licensing and transfer agreements.
Students get an overview of the theoretical and practical aspects of copyright and copyright protection of musical works, as well as on interdisciplinary differences in the concept of a musical work from the perspective of AP and musicological disciplines. They understand the activities of collecting societies AP, get know the analysis of the real court cases in the field of musical plagiarism and learn about the current issues of legal protection.
