After completing the course Vietnamese 3 student should be linguistically equipped and ready to basic communication during a trip to Vietnam (solving casual situations at the airport, in the market, at the visit, holiday celebration etc.). During the course emphasis will also be placed on the cultural context, i.e. language user should know how to respond "relatively" properly in particular situations.
Introductory course will bring the language learner basics of Vietnamese language and will highlight attractions of Vietnam and its culture. The course focuses primarily on language teaching and language skills. Yet in the case of Asian languages it is always necessary knowledge of cultural contexts (e.g. the family hierarchy, introduction system, appropriate gifts etc.) that will properly complement language learning and motivate students to study. The aim of teacher is to show students the path to a new culture through language, which will be activated in lessons. |
