Course content
01. Literature and poetry, numerals, expressing dates. 02. Reading and translation with a dictionary. 03. A. S. Pushkin, sixth case of plural nouns and adjectives. 04. Listening, the conjunction čtoby, clauses of purpose. 05. At a concert, indefinite adverbs, present active verbal adjectives. 06. Conjugation of verbs, sidet´, saditśja, pet´, spet´, P. I. Tchaikovsky. 07. At a restaurant, declination of numerals. 08. Menu, the infinitive in a modal meaning. 09. The conditional mood, Russian national meals. 10. At the airport, declination of possessive pronouns. 11. Lake Baikal, listening.

Learning outcomes
The course RPP1 is intended for students who have pre-intermediate knowledge of Russian. During the course, students deepen their knowledge of both grammar and vocabulary. Students practice additional communicative topics and improve their independent speaking and writing skills. They also learn to work with technical texts from their field of studies. The emphasis is on the active usage of Russian, the ability to communicate in common situations and readily react to questions. Some class time will be spent on reading newspaper articles as well as technical texts.
Students have a command of the vocabulary and grammar in lessons 1-25 in the textbook Pařízková, Š.: Ruština pro začátečníky a samouky, 2007.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian corresponding at least to lessons 1-20 in the textbook Štěpánka Pařízková: Ruština pro začátečníky a samouky, 2007. The course is not intended for the native Russian speakers or the students who come from countries where Russian is an official language.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

- regular attendance, missing no more than two sessions - doing assigned coursework - fulfilling the requirements for written assignments, including passing the final credit test - a 5 page translation of a technical text according to the student?s field of study
