Key learning outcomes
|
The study programme of Archival Sciences concentrates on acquiring basic knowledge and professional skills for work with various types of historical sources such as archival material, library collections, maps, plans, notes, graphics and works of art on paper. The aim is to provide students with the necessary information from history, archival sciences, history of administration, auxiliary sciences of history, and especially diplomatics and palaeography. The purpose of the courses and training is to acquaint students with verified methods for working with concrete sources as well as the duties of the archival profession in archives, a registry, state administration or conservation institutions. The single major study programme combines courses focused on work with sources and education in history as well as language skills, so that it offers students all the needed tools for the interpretation, classification and presentation of a wide range of sources from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
