Course content
|
September 2014 (schoolroom of archive studies): Short briefing for students interested in the course (organizational matters, necessary equipment, study materials), task of a rewrite of a part of the inventory of the library. The participation of all enrolled students is mandatory - if you cannot come, contact us before the end of the september or you shall be deleted from the course. October 2014 - Thursday: Arrival before 10 PM, accomodation at the deanery, meeting with members of implementation team, briefing about the schedule of the course and its localization. October 2014 - Friday-Sunday: Students will split into several working groups which will begin to catalog the library (moving of books, ordering of signatures). Groups will also compare original inventory with present state of library and then they will make photos of books. Be aware the the part of a course will include working in dirty and dusty environment. On sunday there will be an evaluation of the course and departure from the deanery. We are planning some visits to historical and artistic sites of an area as a part of the course. PZ

Learning outcomes
|
During this three-day seminar students should become familiar with one of large, well preserved parish libraries in the area of the diocese of Hradec Králové. Participants should revise this library of old prints and historical funds according to old inventories from the 19th and the 20th century. Every participant should rewrite part of an old text into MS Excel file as a home preparation. On the place of library itself participants will identify individual prints with titles in the inventory. The aim of the course is to teach students to recognize old prints and to show them the composition of a parish library and to show them what was common for clergymen to read. PZ
Student will learn how to catalog old prints, to recognize basic types of documents of a parish administration and he/she will get practical expericence with a classification of a library and archive. PZ

Prerequisites

8 students of BA single-major or double-major history, of archive studies or of archaeology - B class. C class for others. PZ

Analysis of Activities ( Technical works)
Active participation on the whole three-day seminar, rewritting of a part of the origina inventory, ordering the library. There are 2 credits for this course. PZ
