The aim of the program is to educate experts in modern experimental biology and related fields. During the study, student will first gain basic knowledge of the main disciplines necessary for the development of the field (general biology, mathematics, chemistry and physics), followed by specialized courses in molecular and cell biology, microscopy, classification of plants and animals, genetics, experimental biology, microbiology, plant, animal and human physiology, developmental biology, basics of immunology, pathophysiology and pharmacology. Besides theoretical teaching, great emphasis is placed on practical training. During laboratory courses, seminars and professional internships, students are trained in recent biological, biochemical and chemical methods and their practical use, especially with methodological procedures in the study of biological structures, materials and processes. Many subjects are taught not only by experts from the Faculty of Science (Laboratory of Growth Regulators, Department of Chemical Biology, Department of Experimental Biology, Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Department of Botany, Department of Zoology, Department of Biochemistry), but also from the Faculty of Medicine (Department of Medical Biophysics, Department of Biology, Department of Immunology), Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute and some institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The achievement of study goals is thus interdisciplinary and comprehensively ensured. The bachelor's study is completed by elaborating an experimental bachelor thesis and a state final examination.
