1. Introduction, history, the cell theory 2. Chemical composition of the cell, carbon compounds, macromolecules 3. Proteins, structure and functions 4. Cell energetics and metabolism 5. Organization of the cell, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell, cell organelles 6. Structure of membranes and membrane transport 7. Nucleus, replication, transcription, translation, regulation of gene expression 8. Intracellular compartments, cellular sorting and trafficking, cytoskeleton 9. Mitochondria and chloroplasts 10. Cell division, control and regulation of cell cycle 11. Cell communication, intracellular signaling, tissues

Learning outcomes
Basic understanding of eukaryotic cell function and organization, cell division and cell signaling. General context is stressed.
Student is able to (after attending the course): - describe the organization and function of eukaryotic cell - explain the cell division processes
