Learning outcomes
|
Practical introduction into different types of chromosomes, their behaving during cell cycle and mitotic and allotypic division, mendelism and methods of human genetics.
Student is able to (after attending the course): - Prepare basic microscopic cytogenetic slides of tissues and cells stained by specific and non-specific DNA stains. - Characterise the structure of chromosomes, their behaviour during the cell cycle. - Explain principles of mitotic and meiotic division and their significance in GI transfer. - Apply basic laboratory techniques in sex determination in humans. - Evaluate the basic genealogical pedigrees. - Perform simple manipulations with elementary genetic model Drosophila melanogaster.
