Bachelor study of Optometry is a three-year full-time study. Its aim is to educate healthcare professionals "optometrists" in accordance with the Czech legislation (Act No. 96/2004 Coll. as amended). The content of the study is based on the decree of Ministry of health (Act No. 39/2005 Coll. as amended) and according to requirements of the European Diploma in Optometry taking into account the Czech legislation. The core of the study are subjects focused on optometry, monocular and binocular vision, its anomalies and treatment, contactology and ophthalmology. The study also includes knowledge and skills of spectacle optics and technology. The professionally oriented subjects includes both theoretical lessons and practical training as well as external practical training, which are effectively interconnected. The study also covers general-health subjects, basics of mathematics and physics with regard to optics and other subjects focused on biology and genetics, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, pathology, immunology, histology, microbiology, pharmacology, first aid etc. The courses of professional ethics, economy and low are also included. The study is realised by Faculty of Science in cooperation with Medical faculty and Health Science Faculty of Palacký University Olomouc. The guarantee is the Department of Optics of Faculty of Science in cooperation with the Eye Clinic and other departments and clinics of Medical Faculty of Palacký University. The external experts in optometry and ophthalmology participate in the study as well.
