The master's study program builds on the bachelor's study and continues in preparing experts for the analysis, processing and interpretation of data obtained in biology, biochemistry and medicine, or other related disciplines. Graduates of the previous bachelor's degree profile themselves further in the fields of structural bioinformatics of proteins and nucleic acids, proteomics and genomics. Of course, there is further education in information technology, such as information theory and coding, algorithms, databases, artificial intelligence, etc. The graduate becomes an expert with comprehensive knowledge of information technology, computer technology, biochemistry and biological disciplines acids. The graduate will be able to design new bioinformatics algorithms and programs, construct databases, perform statistical analysis of data, especially for the field of life sciences. A consortium of the Department of Biochemistry, Department of Computer Science, Department of Physical Chemistry and the Department of Cell Biology of the Faculty of Science, Palacký University, participates in the teaching. Diploma theses deal with specialized projects in connection with the research activities of these workplaces. The experience gained during the implementation of the thesis includes the use of foreign literature, independent planning of practical professional activities, evaluation of results, their interpretation, discussion and presentation. The acquired theoretical and practical knowledge enables the graduates of the master's study program to do bioinformatics in practice and, possibly, continue within the doctoral study of Biochemistry or Informatics.
