Urban planning - Paragraph purpose and text cohesion in well-written academic texts - Writing a persuasive article - Identifying and expressing facts and opinions 4. Water, food and energy - Finding and using information from more than one source - Listening to illustrated talks and making inferences - Presenting facts and figures 5. Free trade vs fair trade - Distinguishing between facts, speculation and reported opinions - Writing an argumentative essay - Presenting results using visuals 6. Learning outcomes
|
The subject is a one-semester Academic English course focused on science and technology. Its aim is to develop key language and study skills essential for successful studies, research, and communication in the natural sciences, including mathematics and informatics, physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, and Earth sciences. This course builds English proficiency from B2-C1 levels according to the Common European Framework of reference for Languages.
Mastering language for academic purposes at B2 to C1 levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, along with study skills and their application in one's own field of study.

Minimum language level B1 to B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam
Students are required to attend the classes although they may be absent twice per semester and they must participate in an active way. They must prepare for the classes as required by their teachers. They must successfully pass the written graded exam.
