Key learning outcomes The aim of the Petroleum and Geoenergy Engineering study program is to educate experts for the transforming sector of fossil fuel production and processing, their secondary storage in underground reservoirs and the use of alternative underground energy sources. This sector will rapidly transform in favour of decarbonized energy in the coming years and decades. The program focuses on theoretical and practical training of experts in key areas of this transformation: geological and geophysical methods of exploration and engineering of underground reservoirs for storing natural gas and hydrogen, storage (sequestration) of CO2 in underground reservoirs, exploration and use of geothermal energy sources, and use of petroleum engineering technologies for renewable energy sources (secondary and tertiary extraction methods, CO2 injection, recycling technologies). The study program, which is taught in English, follows the B.Sc. program in Petroleum Engineering taught at the Faculty of Science of the University of Prague in Olomouc or related geoscience and engineering B.Sc. programs at other Czech and foreign universities, and is intended for self-paying applicants from all over the world. Graduates will be prepared for doctoral studies in the same or a related field.
