The aim of the Basics of Psychopedia course is to acquaint students with the theoretical foundations of the field, to clarify the psychopedic terminology, classification, etiology, prevention, specifics of the personality of an individual with a mental disability, and to approach the issues of diagnosis, education, professional training, work application and the structure of individual facilities. Topics: Psychopedia as a scientific discipline, its position in the system of sciences. Psychopedic terminology. Classification, etiology and prevention. Specifics of the personality structure of an individual with a mental disability. Psychiatric diagnosis. Principles of access to individuals with mental disabilities, specifics of communication and support, facility structure. Educational process. Professional training.
