Course content
Content: 1. Subject-matter of constitutional law, origin and conception of the Constitution of the Czech Republic, sources of constitutional law, constitutional order 2. Basic provisions of the Constitution, relationship between international and national law, referendum, citizenship 3. Constitutional foundations of the membership of Czech republic in the EU, relationship between international and national law 4. Judicial power, administrative justice, right to judicial and other protection 5. President of the Republic 6. Executive power, government, ministries, position of the public prosecutor, central bank, audit office 7. Legislative power, bicameralism, legal status of members of parliament 8. Constitutional review 9. Elections

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is that the students undestand the constitutional foundations of the organisation and functioning of the Czech Republic. This requires relevant knowledge of the sources of constitutional law, internal organisation of the state, constitutional regulation, powers and mutual relations of the central state authorities, horizontal and vertical separation of powers, instruments of representative and direct democracy, relations of the Czech Republic to other states and the international community, and the issue of states of emergency.
Students completing this course will gain the knowledge needed to master this issue.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Student performance

To obtain the credit, it is necessary to attend seminars, fulfill the tasks set by the seminar leader and pass the credit test. The condition for participation in the exam is to obtain a credit. The exam takes place in a written form consisting of verification of knowledge of the basic principles of the constitutional law of the Czech Republic.
