Course content
|
1. Financial system, banking system and its classification. 2. Genesis and development of central banking; banking systems in selected countries. 3. Genesis and development of commercial banking, strategy of relation to bank customers. 4. Development of the Czech banking system by the year 1918, Czechoslovak banking system during 1918-1989. 5. Important changes in the Czech banking system after 1989; Czech banking system today. 6. Act No. 6/1993, Sb., on the Czech National Bank: its organization, relation to the government, activities and competence. 7. Function of a central bank in market economy. 8. Balance sheet of a central bank. 9. Monetary policy, monetary aggregates and monetary basis. 10. Instruments of the monetary policy, foreign exchange policy. 11. Independence of the Czech National Bank, inflation targeting. 12. Supervision.

|
Oral exam, Student performance
Credit: active participation in the seminars, course work on an assigned topic. Exam: orientation in the subject, orientation in the current issues related to the banking sector and the Central Bank.
