Course content
|
A course is divided into five thematic units. Each of them will be led by workers of Regional Museum in Olomouc (winter semester 2015: Archaeology, Numismatics, History of Technics, Deltiology, Militaria).

Learning outcomes

The course aims at a presentation of selected artefacts' collections of Olomouc museum collection, which will provide a framework for deeper knowledge of various topics related to Czech as well as world history. The focus is put on interconnecting acquaintance obtained from study of collection items with more general historical events in the context of the following fields of study: Archaeology, Ethnography, Numismatics, Historical Cartography, Military History, Science and Technics, and Deltiology. The goal of the course is to teach students not only to work with various kinds of artefacts as sources of historical knowledge but also to understand them in a broader context of cultural, economic and political history.
Experience of work with tangible primary sources, understanding collection items such as sources of historic knowledge, basic knowledge of museum's work.

Basic knowledge of museum's work, interest in selected topics.
