Course content
The course deals with core issues of environmental history as a transdisciplinary discipline on the border between humanities and natural sciences. Attention will be paid to basic theoretical and methodological concepts of environmental history. Students will learn about the applications of traditional historical sources into geography and ecology. They will adopt selected methods of geographical research, which can in turn be used in the historical research. They will gain the basic knowledge of development of the cultural landscape - including all the interactions between landscape and manking in history. The course will also include a one-day field exercise.
