Course content
|
The course deals with core issues of environmental history as a transdisciplinary discipline on the border between humanities and natural sciences. Attention will be paid to basic theoretical and methodological concepts of environmental history. Students will learn about the applications of traditional historical sources into geography and ecology. They will adopt selected methods of geographical research, which can in turn be used in the historical research. They will gain the basic knowledge of development of the cultural landscape - including all the interactions between landscape and manking in history.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will become familiar with the application of traditional historical sources into geography and ecology, and will acquire the selected methods of geographical research. The course will have two parts (in both semesters). The main focus is the environmental history from the interdisciplinary point of view (between humanities and sciences). The winter semester will be devoted the the basic theoretical and methodological concepts and to the basic topics of the environmental history in general.
Learn about the application of traditional historical sources in geography and ecology. Acquire the selected methods of geographical research.
