Course content
|
Lectures: 1. and 2. Early and Middle Bronze Age. The advent of epicorded ware - Carpathian cultural complex, the birth of civilization of early bronz Unetice Culture (proto-untice culture). Mutual co-existence and interaction, cadastral area of findings, the image of the settlement, the structure of settlements and burial grounds, issue of burial rite, see through material culture, internal and external periodization. The climax of the Bronze Age - Veterov group. The issue knoll and fortified settlements, circular fortification (roundels or rondeloids), the funeral rite. 3. and 4. The advent of tumulus grave cultures of Middle Bronze Age - central Danubian tumulus culture. Material merit - pottery, bronze industry, metal production, storaging of depots. Examples of Early and Middle Bronz settlement areas in Central Moravia. Central European chronological systems. Relative and absolute chronology. 5. and 6. Urnfield period and Hallstatt period. History of research. Periodization of Middle to Late Bronze Age and Hallstatt Age. The issue of relative and absolute chronology based on new radiocarbon dates 14C and a results of dendrochronology. Parallelization of Centraleuropean chronological systems. 7. and 8. Bohemian-Pfalz tumulus culture (Tumulus-Milave grade) and central danubian tumulus culture (Tumulus-Knovzz grade) in Bohemia.Tumulus-Velatice and Tumulus-Lusatian period in Moravia. Basic characteristics, expanding and material merit. Czech-Eastern Bavarian urnfields (Cultures of Knovíz , Milavec, Stitar, Nynice, Cheb group) in Bohemia and central-Danubian urfields (Velatice culture) in Moravia. Basic characteristics, extension, internal chronology and material content. Lusatian urnfields in the Czech Republic (Sachsen-Lausitzian, East-North Moravian, Slovakian-east Moravian groups).

Learning outcomes
|
The course is dedicated to the period of the bronze age and Hallstatt (C20 - C5 B.C.) in the territory of Czech Republic with regard to the surrounding regions. The papers will concern on the development of the archeological research of this period and on the current stage of the research. In the seminars, the students will be acknowledged with the typological-chronological clasification of the characteristic tangible objects. Moreover, there will be closely monitored the structure and variability of fund of findings of particullar cultures with taking notice into account of specificities of different cultural and geographic areas. The seminars are devoted to the study of literature and to the creation of essay on a selected topic. AD
Getting a detailed overview of the development and structure of settlement in the Bronze Age and Hallstatt in the Czech Republic, respectively even in its nearest area. Knowledge of archaeological material culture of those periods. Acquiring the formation of a professional text of selected topic. AD
