Course content

1. Introduction of the history of Pilates, modern Pilates concept, introduction of the basic principles of Pilates, principles of designing an exercise unit 2. Basic set of exercises on mat MAT 1 3. Basic set of exercises on mat MAT 2 4. Basic set of exercises on mat MAT 3 5. Practical introduction of the basic exercise equipment at the Pilates studio (Pilates Rollers, Pilates Cicles, Towell Work) and theoretical interduction of Pilates machines (Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair) 6. Exercise set for patients with chronic back pain 7. Exercise set for patients with scoliosis and poor body posture 8.Exercise set for pregnant women and women after childbirth

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the Pilates for physiotherapists is to teach the students theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills in the area of Pilates preventive exercise program. Throughout the course emphasis will be put on the development of the students' leading and creating Pilates exercise programs for health impaired individuals.
The students will be able to use the acquired knowledge and skills in their future jobs for example like a physiotherapist leading and creating Pilates exercise programs for health impaired individuals.

Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, basic gymnastic and own physical fitness.
