Course content
Thematic areas: Physiology of motor control. Neurophysiology of the postural and musculoskeletal system in balance exercises. Rehabilitation devices used for balance exercises and their use in individual therapeutic concepts (Bobath concept, Klein-Vogelbach, Pilates, Balantes). Influencing muscle tone, muscle strength, joint mobility, coordination, balance reactions and stabilization by balance exercises. Use of balance exercises in the prevention of dysfunctions in the locomotor system. Indications and contraindications of balance exercises in individual diagnoses. Instruction and practical training of exercises with balance devices - gymball, over-ball, foam balls, wobble boards, propriofoot, posturomed, etc., a combination of balance devices.

Learning outcomes
Students learn about balance training concept in kinesiotherapy, which they can use for maintaining or improving functions of locomotor system. The main goals of the lessons are to inform students about sensomotoric stimulation and to teach students how they can provide the therapy.
The student uses the acquired knowledge of balance exercises in clinical practice, the student is able to choose a suitable method from the discussed physiotherapeutic methods and concepts and practically apply it.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite for the study of this subject is sufficient knowledge of physiology and neurophysiology of motor control.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Didactic Test

100% participation in seminars, successful completion of the credit in the form of a practical presentation of the exercise unit on balance devices.
