Learning outcomes |
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the study of the book or Book Studies, a discipline that will be discussed as an alternative and parallel to the study of literature. Book studies is an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective on how to study the book beyond the development of domestic (nation-oriented) literature. We will become familiar with the basic concepts, methods and main themes of book studies. We will take into account the materiality of the book, the life cycle of the book, the problems of the creation, production and distribution of books, and part of the discussion will be devoted to reading in different perspectives. The lectures are focused more on historical and theoretical topics, the seminars on specific sub-issues. These will be addressed through examples and group work.
