Course content
|
Urbanism deals with human settlements, during the school term we will try to find answers to these questions: § Is concentration of people in settlements a regular phenomenon of historical development of mankind? § Is it not rather a dead end for natural lifestyle and the way to our self-destruction? § Is growth of settlements a spontaneous process, or is it possible to control it? § What are the roles of market, citizens, politicians, architects and other specialist professionals in the development of settlements? § Are there any rules of functional and spatial lay-out of a settlement? § Does the environment within a settlement influence its residents' behaviour? § What is the role of biotic elements of a settlement? § Is urbanism science or art? Landscape planning deals with practical application of urbanism in planning, transformation and development of settlements and landscape. It is useful for ecologists to know the tools of landscape planning, principles of their origin, negotiation, approval and application, but also means of defence in legal battles lobbyist behaviour of some partners.
