Course content |
In the seminars, students will discuss case reports, encountered in internships at the clinics, developing their knowledge on ethiopathogenesis of relevant diseases, their ability to analyze and interpret clinical symptoms, laboratory findings or results of another examinations. Subsequently, on the basis of the aformentioned mastered steps, they will suggest further diagnostic and therapeutic procedure. Based on the interest of students, the seminars will be preferentially focused on pathophysiological discourse towards cardiology, respiratory and endocrinology topic with emphasis on complex, interdisciplinary approach.

Learning activities and teaching methods |
Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook), Methods of Written Work, Demonstration |
Learning outcomes |
The course extends the subject of Pathophysiology at a period when students have already gained their first experience at the clinical departments and therefore they can better develop logical links between theory and practice, between causes and signs or symptoms, the disease and its diagnostics and/or between diagnosis and its treatment. The topic proposal reflects students´interest incl. evaluation and students also actively contributed to formulation of this proposal, in particular as to which areas put emphasis and focus, i.e. to medicine, namely cardiology, pneumology or endocrinology. The planned teachers´assignments and their specialisations are in agreement with the topic outline.
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to critically approach the differential diagnosis of clinical cases and to analyze rational progress in their treatment, with emphasis on the causal solution with understanding the relationship between cause and disease sequelae. |
Prerequisites |
General knowledge of preclinical disciplines (e.g. pathological anatomy, microbiology, pharmacology), knowledge of clinical propedeutics.

Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Dialog
Interest in pathophysiological view on clinical diagnosis, active approach to study. Participation in the seminars. In accordance with Directive of the dean of the faculty of medicine and dentistry LF-B-18/14, article 7. item 1, Department sets the following limit for absences: 1 teaching hour (45 min.) without apologies. Absence above the limit due to substantial causes must be justified by the teacher with a proper substitution.
