Course content
Thermo-therapy and hydro-therapy. Basic Definitions. Thermoregulation - vasomotor, sudomotor, and metabolic. Average body temperature and body temperature influencing factors. Hydro-therapy. Indications, contraindications. Hyperthermia, hypothermia and cryotherapy. Thermo-therapy - procedures. Sauna. Inhalations. Aerosols - aerodispersoids. Inhalator types, inhalation effects - indications, contraindications. Climate therapy. Photoactinic, thermic, chemical and neurotropic complex. Climate therapy indications. Acclimatisation. Meteorosensitivity and meteorotropism. Hydrotherapy procedures with a massage effect. Baths with special additives. Bioclimatology. Balneotherapy. Therapeutic water. Peloids. Introduction to workplace. Organization and workplace safety. Hydrotherapy procedures application (baths with special additives, O2 baths, jet baths), dry whole body wrap, classical and segmental massage. Scotch Hose, underwater massage, paraffin wrap, water exercise. Applying hydrotherapy procedures to patients.

Learning outcomes
Introduction and rational overview of non-specific reflex therapy and use of natural (physical) therapeutic sources and their application in contemporary rehabilitation. Selected chapters from thermotherapy, phototherapy, hydrotherapy, and climate therapy.
Upon the completion of the course students will be able to safely apply individual treatments.
