Course content
- Ecological principles governing the origin, distribution, abundance, and diversity of birds. - Key threats across different regions and habitats, the mechanisms behind them, and their impacts on bird populations. - Approaches to bird conservation, including the principles of their operation, as well as their benefits and drawbacks in various contexts. - Evaluation of bird conservation effectiveness and future prospects for the field. - Practical examples of bird conservation projects, with a focus on their implementation in Czechia.

Learning outcomes
- Ecological and evolutionary mechanisms shaping bird diversity and abundance. - Factors threatening bird species and populations. - Tools for bird conservation.
- Excellent understanding of the risks facing bird populations at both global and national levels. - Knowledge of bird conservation tools, their benefits, and associated issues.
Prerequisites
- Basics of ecological terminology. - At least a rudimentary understanding of vertebrate zoology.
