Course content
1. Overview of the structure of the special part of environmental law 2. Environmental protection in selected activities (agriculture, mining, energy) 3. Protection of agricultural land (ZPF) and forests 4. Nature and landscape protection I: sources, basic institutions of general protection, principles and instruments of legal regulation. The role of landscape character, ecosystem services, general protection of biotopes, the role of the public, powers of the OOP 5. Nature and landscape protection II: sources, basic institutions of special protection, principles and instruments of legal regulation. Protection of specially protected areas, protected species, NATURA 2000, regimes and restrictions, exceptions. 6. Practical case study 7. Water Protection I: sources, basic institutions for the protection of surface and groundwater, principles and instruments of legal regulation. Obligations in water management, records, usage limits, water balance, protection of hydrological processes 8. Water Protection II: management of chemical substances, prevention of serious accidents. Legal regulation, basic institutions, principles, and tools. Pollution prevention, emergency planning, substance records, permitted use limits, obligations of entities, sanctions. 9. Air protection 10. Climate protection 11. Waste management 12. Final case study

Learning outcomes

Given its focus, the course develops legal, practical, and ethical competencies in the field of environmental protection, orientation in complex legal regulations, and the ability to participate as a citizen and professional. It enables students to recognize and analyze environmental issues from a legal and broader social perspective, with an emphasis on the role of law in fulfilling the principles of sustainable development (SDG).
