The course "Law and Sustainability: Developing Presentation Skills" will focus on achieving more advanced abilities to present the results of one's work to professional or lay audiences, to convincingly defend one's professional conclusions and arguments, and to do so across the full range of elements that together make up a presentation: structure and content of the message, PowerPoint or other accompanying visual components, verbal and nonverbal expression, and discussion. The course will conclude with a simulated workshop, in which students will use the knowledge gained in the course to present their prepared contributions, followed by a moderated discussion. The simulated event will be prepared with a high degree of flexibility, without a fixed format, but will be designed during the first part of the semester according to the composition of the students so as to best meet their needs and planned application. In terms of content, students will use the knowledge acquired in previous courses of the module, from which they will choose a topic for their presentation in the field of law and sustainability according to their preferences. The aim of the course will be to improve the students' skills needed to process the selected problem into a paper or presentation in all phases: from the preparation of the abstract to the presentation and discussion. Students will improve their skills in preparing and presenting the results of their creative work on a selected legal issue to a target audience, structuring their presentation correctly, justifying their conclusions convincingly, using the right techniques for their presentation, and knowing the basic principles of creating and using PowerPoint presentations. learn the rules of discussion (both in terms of asking and answering questions); become familiar with methods for overcoming stage fright when speaking in front of an audience. They will learn to develop the values of objective and responsible work with sources and increase their creative approach to problem solving and the quality of their professional work.
1. Synthesize and structure their knowledge or work results in a way that is understandable to the target audience. 2. Develop the skills to give content-accurate, well-argued, and convincing presentations throughout the entire process of preparing their presentation. 3. Make better use of verbal and nonverbal communication. 4. Work correctly with information, data, images, and other materials that can be used for the visual component of the presentation. 5. Creatively create and use the visual component of the presentation (e.g., slides) to maximize support for the speaker's message and maintain the audience's attention. 6. Improve your public speaking skills, both in prepared speeches and in discussions.
