Course content
1. Privacy, the right to privacy, the right to personal data protection, the right to information. 2. European aspects (EU legislation, Council of Europe) and national legislation. 3. Individual elements of personal data protection. 4. Means of legal protection. 5. Conflict between the right to privacy and the right to information. 6. Current trends in personal data protection worldwide and in the EU.

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on a detailed analysis of personal data protection issues, which appear to be the most pressing challenge in light of the increasing amount of personal data held by public authorities. Graduates of the course will gain comprehensive information about the legal regulation of personal data protection in the Czech Republic, as well as the legal regulation within the European Union and the Council of Europe, with an overview of other countries.
Expected learning outcomes: After completing the course, students will be able to: 1. Navigate personal data protection within public administration, with an emphasis on personal data held by public corporations ? link to SDG 11 and SDG 16 2. Distinguish and assess conflicts between constitutionally guaranteed rights ? link to SDG 4, SDG 11, SDG 16 3. Be able to navigate case law related to personal data protection at both the national and international levels ? link to SDG 4, SDG 16 4. Develop their skills in analyzing complex legal situations, including selecting ideal solutions ? link to SDG 4

To obtain credit, it is necessary to pass two midterm tests and participate in consultations. To take the exam, it is necessary to pass the final test and submit a written paper.
