Learning outcomes
The course offers an in-depth study of selected issues of legal regulation of so-called technical environmental protection and public administration in these areas. It builds on compulsory courses related to the teaching of administrative law and environmental law. Mining law is traditionally one of the fundamental topics of legal regulation of natural resource management. Energy law, on the other hand, is one of the modern legal disciplines; it reflects the dynamic development of legal regulation of energy management, including various forms of support for selected types of energy. The course also includes teaching the basics of related geological and nuclear law. In the legal system, this is a set of public law rules with many private law overlaps (e.g., ownership, compensation for damages, business regulation). The course will also emphasize the international legal aspects of this area of law, as well as the relevant EU legislation. After completing the course, students will be familiar with the most important topics in mining and energy law and will know the specifics of the implementation of these measures in the Czech Republic.
Students will gain theoretical knowledge in this course. The aim of the course is to learn and understand the legal regulations applicable in the field of natural resource management and to learn how to apply them in practice. The course focuses on expanding knowledge of selected issues of legal regulation of so-called technical environmental protection and public administration in these areas. After completing the course, students will be able to: 1. Identify the main challenges and dilemmas related to international, EU, and Czech legal regulations in the field of mining and energy law SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy, SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production, SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions, and SDG 17 Partnerships for the goals 2. Understand the complexity, interconnectedness, and intricacy of topics related to energy and mining law SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy, SDG 9: Industry, innovation, and infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production, SDG 13: Climate action 3. Familiarize participants with the current state and trends in mining and energy law in the Czech Republic and the EU SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy, SDG 9: Industry, innovation, and infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production, and SDG 13: Climate action - Analyze the causes of problems in the area of sustainability and other solutions related to the use of natural resources, find political solutions and opportunities for cooperation SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate action, SDG 14: Life below water, SDG 15: Life on land 4.
