Learning outcomes
|
The Insurance Law course is designed as a specialised seminar focusing on the practical application of the legal framework governing private insurance and the resolution of legal issues arising in insurance relationships. The course combines the necessary theoretical foundation with the practical analysis of insurance contracts and policy conditions, the resolution of model cases, the study of case law, and the simulation of insurance dispute resolution. Given the limited time available, the aim of the course is not to provide a complete, systematic explanation of all areas of insurance law and all types of insurance. The emphasis is placed, in particular, on the student's ability to independently identify a legal problem, determine the relevant legislation, interpret an insurance contract and formulate legal arguments when resolving a specific insurance case.
Knowledge - upon completion of the module, the student will, in particular: - be familiar with the basic principles and concepts of private insurance; - understand the legal structure of an insurance contract; - be familiar with the basic rights and obligations of the insurer, the policyholder and the insured; - be familiar with the process of the occurrence, notification and settlement of an insured event; - understand the legal relationships arising in liability insurance. Skills - Students will be able, in particular, to: - analyse a specific insurance contract; - work with insurance terms and conditions; - identify key legal issues; - present arguments in favour of the individual parties to the insurance relationship; - propose a legal solution to an insurance dispute.

Student performance
It is essential that those students who would like to pass the course must have active participation within the scope set by the seminar teacher and they also must succeed in the colloquium.
