Course content
|
Seminar topics: Historical development of insurance legislation. History of the history of insurance legislation. Insurance and the insurance contract Basic legal institutes in relation to insurance and the insurance industry. Public and private insurance law. Insurance as a legal relationship. Types of insurance. Origin and termination of insurance. Consequences of breach of insurance obligations. Insurance conditions and exceptions thereto.

Learning outcomes
|
The elective course Insurance Law combines both private law elements (insurance - insurance contract) and public law elements (nature and activities of insurance companies). Students will learn about the elements of an insurance contract, selected case law on the subject as well as types of insurance and the operation of insurance companies.
Students who have completed this course will deeper the knowledge gained in the general course of Contract law. They also gain skill to understand and use special features of insurance law in practice.

Student performance
It is essential that those students who would like to pass the course must have active participation within the scope set by the seminar teacher and they also must succeed in the colloquium.
