The objective of VCJ/AV1 is to systematically develop the language skills of Academic English. It focuses on teaching students to orientate in scientific texts, to improve their listening and writing skills, and to extend their knowledge of academic vocabulary at level B2 of the Common European Framework for Languages.

Prerequisites |
Students must have a minimum language level in English of level B1+ of the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR). A good knowledge of grammar is expected as grammar is not taught in this course. To check which level of the CEFR you are currently at, we recommend that you use online tests, for example at http://examenglish.com/leveltest/index.html

Assessment methods and criteria |
Written exam
Students are required to attend the classes although they may be absent twice per semester and they must participate in an active way. They must prepare for the classes as required by their teachers. They must successfully pass the written test. |
