Learning outcomes
The objective of VCJ/AV1 is to systematically develop the language skills of Academic English. It focuses on teaching students to orientate in different types of texts, to improve their listening and writing skills, and to extend their knowledge of more formal or specialised vocabulary at level B2 of the Common European Framework for Languages.
Acquisition of academic skills on the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
Prerequisites
It is assumed that students who enroll in the VCJ/AV1 course have a good knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, at least at language level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). To check which level of the CEFR you are currently at, we recommend that you use online tests, for example at http://examenglish.com/leveltest/index.html

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Students are required to attend the classes although they may be absent twice per semester and they must participate in an active way. They must prepare for the classes as required by their teachers. They must successfully pass the written test. The result of the credit test is part of the final evaluation in VCJ/AV2.
