Course content
Lesson 1. Introductions 2. First impressions 3. Relationships 4. Small talk 5. Conversation taboos 6. Handling questions after presentations 7. Inventions 8. Money and social status 9. Dealing with problems 10. Speculations and decisions 11. Discussing an area of expertise with a non-expert 12. The natural world

Learning outcomes
The objective of VCJ/AK3 is to develop language skills of general English with a particular attention to the spoken word. The course focuses on building vocabulary, re-enforcing grammar, developing listening with understanding and promoting discussion on general topics. It works with general as well as Academic English and focuses on speaking.
Improvement of conversation skills on the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
Prerequisites
A minimum language level in English of level B2 of the Common European Framework for Languages is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Students must participate in an active way. Prior to each lesson, students are required to study the key vocabulary in VLE Moodle: http://kcj.upol.cz (E-learning, Anglická konverzace).
