Learning outcomes
The content of the subject is focused on the one hand on the view of a person with a disability in individual historical stages of the development of civilization, on the care provided for these persons with special attention to educational aspects, on the other hand on the emergence of special pedagogy as a scientific field and its changes over time and efforts to establish the field, which preceded the actual creation of special pedagogy. The historical stages of the view of handicap and a person with a handicap contain information from the pre-civilization period of the social development of mankind, they include the period of antiquity, the early Middle Ages, the Renaissance (humanistic) period, changes in the 18th and 19th centuries up to the consolidation of systemic care for persons with disabilities and establishing a scientific field. In the chronological view, social development as a whole (the world at that time) is included first, and then in chronological order, a look at the territory of the Czech lands, at personalities, institutions and legislation of individual historical epochs, taking into account the specifics of care about specific types and types of disabilities, again with an emphasis on education, on the very emergence of the field and its development in the 20th and 21st centuries, separatist, differentiating, and inclusive-interdisciplinary trends in the development of the field.
