Course content
The students should be able to write the resume of their presentation for the oral exam. The presentation should be related to the problematic of the dissertation. The students extend the ability to use the pieces of knowledge from foreign-language resources and literature. The feedback in the from of discussion and answering of the queries of the specialized board follows.

Individual preparation by means of studying scientific texts in the respective foreign language which correspond to the doctoral student's specialization, general vocabulary of B1-B2 level according to CEFR, specialized vocabulary meeting the area of expertise, ability to present a speech with a scientific focus, summarize, present arguments and opposing views, defend one's own perspective. Development of a 10-15 minute presentation for an oral public board examination, for example by means of PPT. During the examination the student shall demonstrate the ability to answer questions asked by the board or the audience, explain in detail the issues of the presentation and clarify any disputes. The outcomes of the subject are based on partial profile of the subject`s absolvent.
Prerequisites
a) The examination in a foreign language I. is taken before an expert committee. The examination board has three members and is appointed by the Dean of pdF UP on the proposal of the chair of the DSP doctoral board. It includes at least one philologist from UP who assesses the exam from a linguistic point of view. The chairman of the examination board is an authorized employee from the workplace guaranteeing a specific doctoral study program, who, together with another expert, evaluates primarily the professional level of presentation. (B2) b) As part of the completion of the foreign language I., students are obliged to submit a summary of presentations in a foreign language in the range of 1800 to 3200 characters when registering for the announced date. This summary will be delivered or personally submitted by the student in electronic form no later than five days before the date of the examination to the chairman of the examination board. c) In the case of English, French, German and Russian, the Examination in Foreign Language I is held orally in the form of a public presentation, which must meet the following conditions: 1. relates to the partial issue of the dissertation, 2. uses knowledge from foreign language sources and literature concerning the tested language, 3. meets the recommended time limit of the actual presentation and expert discussion for verifying feedback, and answering questions of the expert committee or from the plenum.
