Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to present the main goals and content of speech therapy as a field and profession and the organization of speech therapy care in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on the position of the speech therapist in the counseling team in the educational, clinical and social environment. Furthermore, students will be introduced to the development of speech and related types of difficulties, including influences on the development of laterality and others. Teaching theses: - Speech therapy as a scientific field specifics of speech therapy intervention. Definition and delimitation as a scientific and study field, a brief history of the development of the field, the position of speech therapy in the system of sciences, important personalities. - Organization of speech therapy care. Specifics of speech therapy care according to individual departments within individual age categories, legislative definition, institutional care for persons with impaired communication skills. Speech therapy organizations and companies. Current trends. - 10 circuits of impaired communication skills - terminology, basic classification. - Possibilities of speech therapy prevention and education - types, degrees and forms of speech therapy prevention. - Specifics regarding individual forms of impaired communication ability in individual age categories. - The issue of laterality in preschool age - the relationship between laterality and communication, the principles of respecting a child's natural laterality, the basics of laterality phenotype diagnosis. - Selected specifically focused abilities. Terminology, speech therapy diagnosis and intervention of selected specifically focused skills. The spillover of difficulties in the mentioned abilities into speaking, reading and writing. - Speech development and impaired speech development. Description of developmental stages of speech ontogeny and deviations in speech development. Terminology and classification of age-related speech disorders. Basics of diagnosis and intervention. Specifics of consulting work. - Delayed speech development and developmental dysphasia. Basic terminology, symptomatology, classification, etiology, basics of diagnosis and intervention. Specifics of consulting work. - Impaired speech development in children with a primary disability or illness. Basic terminology, symptomatology, classification, etiology, basics of diagnosis and intervention. Specifics of consulting work. - Acquired neurotic infancy. Basic terminology, symptomatology, classification, etiology, basics of diagnosis and intervention. Specifics of consulting work. - Specifically impaired speech development. Basic terminology, symptomatology, classification, etiology, basics of diagnosis and intervention. Specifics of consulting work.
