Learning outcomes
Practice takes place in the form of hearings and own outputs under supervision in schools and facilities where special educational care is provided for people with specific needs (of all age categories). It also includes familiarization with the relevant documentation and organizational measures ensuring the operation of the given institution. Ongoing practice in special education is, together with practice in expressive therapies, one of the basics of studying the given field. Due to this, it is also defined in a larger scope than was usual for university studies. It is based on the fact that the training of professional workers in the field of social care cannot be done without close contact with clients, or devices already during the course of study. The internship is organized and conceived as a gradual, systematic and controlled development of the student's personality traits, development of his ideas about the issue of field social services, linking the theoretical and practical experiences of the intern and the student. Among the facilities that come into consideration are mainly homes for people with disabilities, stationary homes, therapeutic and social workshops, day stays for children, teenagers and adults with disabilities, asylum homes and homes with a special regime. Part of the student's preparation for practice is an extensive self-study of the issue with the preparation of an internship plan and observation of the operation of the facility and the selected client with the aim of processing a case study. The student also keeps a field diary, on the basis of which he prepares a proposal for an individual development plan for the client (including expressive therapies).
