The aim of the course is to introduce the field of special education for people with hearing impairment, which is a prerequisite for determination of the general background and theoretical starting points for work with individuals suffering from hearing impairment. The course includes a theoretical introduction to surdopedy derived from the respective fields of special needs education and medicine, terminology from the field, explanation of general audiological terms necessary for orientation in surdopedy-related issues, an overview of the historical perspective of education for people with hearing impairment, and the characteristics and application of basic compensatory aids for individuals with hearing impairment. Syllabus: " Special Education for people with hearing impairment as a field within special needs education. " Introduction to terminology for special education for people with hearing impairment. " Hearing impairment from the perspective of audiology. " Classification of people with hearing impairment. " Etiology of hearing impairment. " History of care for people with hearing impairment. " Technical and compensatory aids.
