The aim of the course is to introduce the main goals and content of Special Needs Education for people with communication disorders as a field and a profession, and the organization of logopedic care in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on the position of a speech therapist in a counselling team in the educational, clinical, and social environment. Students will also be acquainted with the development of speech and the related types of disorders including influences on laterality development and others. Specifics of logopedic care according to the individual sectors within the respective age categories, legal determination, institutional care for people with impaired communication ability. Logopedic organizations and associations. Current trends. " Ten areas of communication ability impairment - terminology, basic classification. " Options for logopedic prevention and edification - types, levels and forms of logopedic prevention. " Specifics of the individual forms of communication ability impairment in the individual age categories. " The laterality issue at pre-school age - the relationship between laterality and communication, principles of respecting the child's natural laterality, introduction to diagnostics of laterality phenotypes. " Selected specifically focused abilities. Terminology, logopedic diagnostics and interventions for selected specifically focused abilities.
