Course content
The discipline treats the system and functioning of the counselling.

Learning outcomes
Presumed competencies: Fundamentals of scientific and research activities using student's critical thinking. Student's ability to understand the specifics and differences in individual research strategies (quantitative, qualitative, mixed) and research methods / methods of cognition. The course is a follow-up to the successfully completed course Methodology of special education research (USS/UMET). Aims of the subject / students will be able to: The main aim of the discipline is to acquaint students with the essential attributes of the qualitative, quantitative and mixed research approaches, to distinguish particular methods, techniques (of data collection and analysis connected with a particular research strategy, and to equip students with the knowledge that they can apply to their own research topics and research proposals. A partial aim of the study discipline is to critically assess the suitability of applying the selected qualitatively, quantitively and/or mixed oriented approaches and its benefits, suitability, lacks and types of research problem, step by step be able to prepare a research proposal and defend it. Basic themes: ? Determination of a research sample ? Study question ? research problem ? research question ? hypothesis ? Hypotheses: problem and hypothesis, classification of hypothesis, role of hypothesis in research ? Research questions: concretization of the research problem, general and specific research questions, relation of the research question to the research objective and study design ? Stages and steps of the research process: designing the research activity, conceptual phase, design and planning phase, empirical phase, analytical phase, dissemination phase ? Designing the study ? qualitive study, quantitative study, mix design study ? Measurement and construction of the questionnaire - questionnaire structure, required properties of items, item types, questionnaire administration ? Interview and other qualitative techniques - interview phases, interview types, interview questions and pitfalls ? Observation and experiment as data collection procedures in research ? Qualitative and quantitative data analysis ? Reliability, validity, practicality in qualitive, quantitative and mix-method research activities ? Ethical aspects and limits of the qualitative, quantitative and mix-method study
