After completion of the course, students should know specialized terminology from the field of communication theory, be aware of the available communication systems used for people with a disability, know the specifics of communication of people with a disability, master the principles of functional communication with people with a disability, be able to choose and follow a suitable communication system for the particular individual with a disability, know the theoretical background of the individual communication systems and the principles of their functioning, be able to ensure optimal conditions for functional communication, be aware of the educational aids and professional literature focused on practical mastering of the individual communication systems currently available. Syllabus: " Communication, communication theories and models, types and elements of communication. " Classification of AAC systems, aspects and choice of the optimal communication system. " Pictograms, Blissymbols, Makaton, Sign to Speech, phonemic sign codes. " Social reading. " Picture Exchange Communication System. " Special communication systems for people with hearing impairment. " Special communication systems for people with visual impairment. " Special communication systems for people with deafblindness. " Special communication systems for people with multiple disabilities. " Technical means. " Utilization of IT in the development of communication techniques.
