Course content
Seminar Topics. Introduction to the consumers law, determination of fundamental terminology. Consumers protection in private law. Responsibility of the producers for the damage caused by the defective products. Consumers protection in connection with legal acting in the space of internet. Consumers protection in public law. EC consumers directives.

Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to expand students' knowledge and skills in this area of law. Protection of consumer rights in the Czech legal system is covered both by private law regulation and public law regulation; the objective is to inform the students about the legislation and its application in both of these areas. The lectures will focus on the legal regulation of so-called consumer contracts, which belong to the private law regulation. An integral part of the lectures will be the interpretation of the relevant provisions of public law, such as the Consumer Protection Act, the Act on Certain Conditions of the Consumer Credit Act, etc.
Students who have completed this course will gain the special knowledge about consumers protection law both from private and public law point of view. The students will get a complex view on this field of legal regulation and will learn to solve practical problems from this field.

Completion of this course is not conditional upon completion of some other courses.

Student performance

It is essential that those students who would like to pass the course must have attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and they also must succeed in colloquium.
