Course content
Students are introduced to radiation protection. Radionuclids and radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine, production and preparation. Detection of ionising radiation, scintillation cameras, collimators. Static and dynamic scintigraphy, SPECT, PET/CT. Examination of particular organs - static and dynamic scintigraphy of kidney - examination of the thyroid gland - lymphoscintigraphy (detection of sentinel node) - scintigraphy of the skeleton - detection of inflammation - scintigraphy by marked leukocytes - scintigraphy of lungs, perfusion and ventilation - nuclear cardiology - PET/CT - specific characteristics of the wards of Department of Nuclear Medicine

Learning outcomes
Students will be presented with - work at the Department of Nuclear Medicine - rudiments of radiation physics and radiation protection - the most common radiopharmaceuticals, their application and further examination methods and procedures - the specific characteristics of the wards of Department of Nuclear Medicine
Students are able to calculate the applied procedures, apply radiopharmaceuticals, can examine particular organs under supervision. They assist the doctor when applying FDG at a PET/CT scan.
