Course content
1. Foundation of the International Red Cross organization, its components, role of components. 2. Czech Red Cross as a component of the International Red Cross. 3. Birth and evolution of modern international humanitarian law (IHL), definition of the IHL, scope of application. 4. Role of the Red Cross at the implementation of the IHL. 5. Role ant tasks of the Red Cross at ensuring of the right to health care. 6. Sources of the IHL. Basics rules of the IHL. 7. IHL and human rights law. 8. Basic standard of the protection under IHL. Protected persons. 9. Protection of medical care, providers of medical care, protection of wounded and sick. 10. Status of medical workers. 11. Protection of medical duties. 12. Protection of civilians and of civil objects. 13. Protection of persons deprived of liberty in the connection with armed conflicts. 14. Implementation of the IHL, prosecution of breaches of the IHL. 15. Practical application of the IHL I. 16. Practical application of the IHL II.

Learning outcomes
The topic of the course is to understand role and tasks of the Czech Red Cross (as a component of the International Red Cross) as well as purpose and basics of the international humanitarian law, status of the medical personnel, protection of the medical care and providers of it. Student obtains also knowledge on the role of Red Cross and states - contrary parties of Geneva conventions at the implementation of the international law.
After passing the course, student will be introduced in specifics of providing of medical care in situation covered by international humanitarian law. He will be aware of the status and tasks of Red Cross, especially in the relation to the protection of medical care. He will be able to plan and to decide in the situation covered by the international humanitarian law.
