Course content
Course of physiological pregnancy, diagnostics, changes during pregnancy, lifestyle with a focus on nutrition for pregnant women, midwifery care during pregnancy according to the principles of the midwifery process. Education of the client and her family. Course of physiological childbirth. Admission of the woman in labor to the delivery room. Midwife's care for the woman in the individual stages of labor. Documentation management during childbirth. Psychological approach to the woman in labor and her companion. Introduction to the latest trends in obstetrics and midwifery.

Learning outcomes
Theoretical and practical training of midwives is focused to care for a woman with pfysiological pregnancy and childbirth. The course is focused on satisfying the individual needs of the pregnant woman, the quality of her life, promotion of health, and prevention of disease occurrence and complications associated with pregnancy.
The students will be able to: diagnose pregnancy and describe the physiological changes in the body of a pregnant woman, apply recommended procedures in the care of a pregnant woman, assess uterine activity and interpret CTG recordings, independently manage a physiological childbirth.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and basic skills in midwifery.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark, Oral exam, Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Analysis of Activities ( Technical works), Didactic Test, Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student

Active participation of students in seminars and exercises. Absence of up to 10% of classes (seminars and exercises) is tolerated, provided that the student submits a prior written excuse to the course guarantor and makes up the missed material. For higher absence, the student must submit a written excuse to the course guarantor, provide proof of the reason (e.g., a doctor's note), and agree on a substitute arrangement. If absence reaches 30% or more, the student must re-enroll in the course in the next academic year. Independent study preparation for exercises is required. Course completion: Conditions for obtaining credit: Credit will be granted based on at least 70% success in continuous tests. Continuous tests will be part of the classes and their content will be based on material covered in previous lessons. Exam: The exam will be divided into a theoretical part (verification of knowledge from lectures and study materials) and a practical part (application of acquired knowledge in practice). The assessment will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of both parts.
